“I Wish You Love” is a popular song whose music was written by Leo Chauliac, with French lyrics under the title “Que reste-t-il de nos amours?” (translated: “What is left of our loves?”) by Charles Trenet. The English title and lyrics are by Albert A. Beach. The original French lyric wistfully evokes memories of happier youthful days while the English version captures the same air of wistfulness. It was first recorded by Keely Smith in 1957 and has since become a standard, with many other recordings. Notable covers were released by Long John Baldry, Shirley Bassey, Ray Charles, Bette Davis, Dean Martin, Joni James, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole and Patricia Kaas.
